Stress–Strain Assessment of Honeycomb Sandwich Panel Subjected to Uniaxial Compressive Load

The ship hull structure is composed of plates and stiffened panels. Estimating the maximum load-carrying capacity, or ultimate strength, these structural components fundamental. One main challenges nowadays implementation new materials technologies to enhance integrity, economy, safety environmentally friendly design ship’s structure. A solution may be represented by aluminium alloy honeycomb sandwich structures, both as plane panels ones, which are characterised excellent impact-absorption capabilities a high stiffness-to-weight ratio. Still, their response some conditions typical needs deeply investigated. Axial compressive loading one most critical that could impact integrity such light-weight solutions. Hence, uniaxial behaviour structures has investigated promote integration in design. Within this context, present work performs an experimental numerical study panel subjected loads. results will help develop models for predicting capacity hybrid sandwiches
